Memory giant SK Hynix plans to invest $6.8 billion to build a new semiconductor manufacturing plant in South Korea. The plant will be located in the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster, where the government plans to construct a massive chip complex. This will be SK Hynix’s first manufacturing plant in the cluster, with construction starting in March next year and completion expected in May 2027. SK Hynix, one of the world’s top memory chip makers, has been focusing on the AI market and reported its highest second-quarter profit in six years.
