These innovations are making wind turbines even greener

Modvion, a company focusing on renewable energy infrastructure, is currently manufacturing turbine towers made from wood, as an alternative to conventional blade materials that pose environmental challenges. Traditional turbine blades are manufactured using fiberglass bonded with epoxy resin, which is difficult to recycle due to its strength. To address this issue, some companies are exploring the production of micro turbines. Notably, French company New World Wind has developed a “Wind Tree” system, featuring multiple leaf-like turbines that generate electricity. This innovative approach offers potential solutions to the environmental concerns associated with traditional turbine blades.
