Tens of thousands of shareholders and Warren Buffett fans gathered in Nebraska for Berkshire Hathaway’s annual meeting. The event took on a more somber tone as Warren Buffett appeared without his longtime partner Charlie Munger, who passed away in November. Berkshire executives Greg Abel and Ajit Jain joined Buffett on stage. Munger was praised by Buffett in his opening remarks as the “architect” of their success. The question of succession at Berkshire was brought up after Munger’s passing. Abel has been named as the heir apparent. Berkshire Hathaway also reported a strong first-quarter performance.
